Apparently everyone who read it was really shocked by whatever the topic was, and it wasn't until 2 days later when the writers realized what they had done and they had to release an apology statement explaining what happened and what the onion is. It definitely isn't as funny without the details but at the time, I found the story to be quite amusing.
