The same day my neighbors were working on some project in their yard nearest the sockets (though, still farther away than their own sockets), so it may have been them using them while I was at work. I'm not adverse to them doing so: if it's more convenient, or safe, then I guess I'm alright with them using them. But asking first is the adult thing to do.
