This album was a tough one to rate. I've listened to it all the way through 3 times now, and some individual tracks more, but I still feel like I don't quite get it. It is incredibly technical and complex, and the atonality and bellowing death metal vocals produce a pretty significant barrier to entry. But it is fascinating, and I can tell there is something pretty special here that will get better with more listens. A throwback and extension to the roots of technical death metal. 4.0/5 - Brutal and technical death metal about the Chinese invasion of Tibet from the perspective of monks? Yeah, better believe it's pretty great.
