Sept. 16th is the Tunnel to Towers 5K run in Anchorage to commemorate all the fire fighters, police, and service men and women who lost the lives or were severely injured during 9/11 and the years following. The charity builds custom houses for wounded service members who can no longer live in traditional housing. I'll be running on the Alpine Emergency Services team. Anyone interested?

On a happier note, it should make the run next week at Russian Jack seem easy and very very flat...

Along those same lines, I re-discovered muscles in my back and arms that I forgot I had after taking my PAT yesterday. Pulling a 65 lb hose reel up 3 stories sucks!
Having an artistic roommate is awesome! I got talked in to painting my large, empty living room wall with black chalkboard paint. While the idea of having a wall I can draw on is awesome, I was scared about a giant black wall in the living room. Not only does it look awesome, I came home to the first coat completely done...and the second coat went on last night. My living room is full of "temporary art" that I can change on a whim!

Bus 7 (or 3, I can't remember which is Northern Lights and which is the airport...) runs from downtown to the Airport every hour. I take it on a fairly regular basis either coming or going from the slope when I can't get a ride in the middle of the day. The downside is that it takes almost 2 hours to get from my house to the airport...which sucks when you have a 10am flight, necessitating being at the airport about 730...

BMI is pretty straight forward: BMI=703*(weight/height^2) where weight is in lbs and height is in inches. Although they say it's to measure "body fat", it's no better measurement than weight, since it still doesn't differentiate between muscle and fat. Probably the best indicator is body fat percentage, but the ones that measure electrical resistance (which you can do at home with a special scale) are pretty inaccurate and it's pretty big bucks for a submersion test.
