Not bad...enjoying married life and all that California has to offer (not that Bako is the best place in the world). It's nice being able to travel to lots of interesting places in a few hours.

gunner125: In California those with PG&E are required

In California those with PG&E are required to have a SmartMeter. It will record your energy usage on an hourly basis which you can view online. Nice "free" technology we end up paying through with higher rates. I guess what irks me here are the progressive rate structure which charges you more per kWh the more you use. Yet they don't change demand, only usage. In my opinion how I have my AC set (to allow the house to warm up during the week while I'm gone then cool before I'm home) increases my hourly demand in the late afternoon (~4 kWh/hr) then leaving it at my house temperature all day long (which would have it flatline around ~2.5 kWh/h. That swing demand is what is hard for untillities to handle, not consistent baseline. I don't know, when I get down to it, insulation will do more over the long run than any thermostat gadget, IMHO, boring as it may sound.

I am in the same boat Josh. While I won't bore you with details, needless to say college added roughly 30 lbs which I haven't really been able to start loosing until recently. For me, I track nearly everything eat as well as my weight and body fat each day (save for this week of vacation: what's the point? I'm on vacation) and so far have lost 12 lbs over two months. Who knows where I will be after a week here in AK. I agree with Robbie, letting ones self go now and again is actually good from what I have read.

I've discovered the band Kamelot recently. Simply put, they kick ass. They're a power/symphonic/progressive metal band from Tampa. The rub is that they are huge in Europe and South America, have a former opera lead singer from Norway, a keyboardist from Germany and mix in the occasional hot soprano from a northern European country. I know Aaron and Erik have heard of them, but the rest of you should check them out. Their live album "One Cold Winters Night" is particularly good.

I also imagine those challenges will still go to Murkowski. I see very little momentum in the powers that be to side with Miller on much of anything.

Do you know of any sharing issues from W7 to XP? I set up the network sharing on both my desktop and my old, old, old laptop. I have no problem reading files from my laptop (running XP pro) on my desktop (running W7). But there seems to be issues going the other way. I am merely typing in the IP address and it's giving me a list of the shared folders. When I click on one of the shared folders it says I don't have permissions. I have attempted to remove all security barriers but maybe I am missing something. Is this just W7 being "smart?"

Somehow this doesn't bother me very much. If you think it's OK to display your information and then not enact privacy settings, what does that say about you? This guy is a dick, yes, but no more a dick than these 100 million people are oblivious to the implications of the internet.

In light of Uncle Ted's passing, something came to me. I spend a not inconsiderable time defending Alaska from the ignorant down here in California. They think Sara Palin is somehow the embodiment of Alaska. I keep saying "No, no, no." I think this sums it perfectly: Ted Stevens loved Alaska. Sara Palin loves herself.

There are two that I've been to, but I can't remember their names. One is on Old Seward just south of O'Malley in front of the hockey rink. The other is on Abbott just down the hill from Fred Meyer. Can't remember their names, but they are both decent. The best in Alaska, however, is Lemon Gras in Fairbanks.
