This is a the search function. With it, you can perform searches. For example:
  • Search for a particular user's post: user:somebody
  • Search for the same user, but only times they said "cheese": user:somebody, cheese
  • Search for the same user, but only in the item "idkfa": user:somebody, item:idkfa
  • Search for anywhere people mention "cheese": cheese
  • Find all mention of cheese in "idkfa" for a set of users: item:idkfa, user:somebody, user:nobody, cheese
  • Only the "roots" of threads, not the replies: is:root
  • Find comments mentioning both cheese and crackers in the last five days: last:5d,cheese,crackers
  • Find comments mentioning either cheese or crackers: cheese+crackers
  • The item, user, and last prefixes can be negated, for example, posts older than 5 days, not in "idkfa": -last:5d,-item:idkfa
  • All posts in direct reply to your comments, excluding when you replied to yourself: inreplyto:me,-user:me
  • All posts in reply to threads that you've started (but not necessarily in reply to you): threadreplyto:me,-user:me
  • If you're logged in, posts that you've read, or not read: is:read, or is:unread. If you're not logged in, these are ignored.
If you're just looking for something to read, try this.

SPDCA: I have a new project. It's called Giterary. It's nearing completion. I've been coding for about the last 6 months on it. I need to hear your thoughts on it. It is a

is the "annotate selected text" only supposed to show in the edit screens? the annotated notes didn't show or rollover on the "reading" page. running win7 updated chrome

kaiden in Indiscernible from Magic, about +12Y ago:
For annotations, you have to select the "Decorations" checkbox at top. This is so when you're just reading a document you don't have shit highlighted all to hell. Selecting that

Haha. Good point. I'm surprised I didn't catch that earlier, I've had to fix that at work before. I'll see to it. Is this... rhetorical? Markdown does *something*
avatar
kitacek in Indiscernible from Magic, about +12Y ago:
2. It's probably rhetorical. remember, you wanted a new user to try new user things. I went in with the intention of hitting EVERY BUTTON. I HIT EVERY BUTTON and it was good. It was good.

kaiden in Indiscernible from Magic, about +12Y ago:
Hehe, right-o. I'll consider what it'd take to make the annotation feature infinitely-Matroshka out, provided you can keep your mouse steady.
avatar
kaiden in Indiscernible from Magic, about +12Y ago:
And to answer your question: annotation can only be done from the edit screen currently (couldn't ever figure out how to do it any other way that wasn't insane, or broke shit).

kitacek in Indiscernible from Magic, about +12Y ago:
Actually, your first response answered my question. I had annotated something, and went back to the reading page to try and find it. I didn't expect to be able to annotate from the reading

kitacek in Indiscernible from Magic, about +12Y ago:
I mean, I can't think of a reason for good writing that requires annotating an annotation, I'm just noting performance as I found it. Like, HAY, I CAN SELECT AND ANNOTATE THAT AND OOOOOH I

kaiden in Indiscernible from Magic, about +12Y ago:
Haha, understood. Potentially, you could have a back-and-forth between author and editor, but I suppose that could easily be handled with the comments field rather than the annotations.

Backspacing is fixed. Doesn't stop you from hitting the back button, however. In that case, better hope the draft timer saved your work.

First of all, this is brilliant.  Like, truly. Second, I don't understand it at all. I like to think that I am generally computer savvy, and I write from time to time, and I don't

Well, first of all, when I was playing around trying to edit a text field I couldn't delete text but could space over it and I got confused and gave up. Also, I don't know what Git is.

Yeah, per Dave's request, I sort of uber-fixed the backspacing to where it was disabled completely (not just when you're outside of a text element and trying to keep the using from losing

First thought it won't work for me at all to edit or open things in the outdated IE8 that the municipality makes us run. I can click around and see stuff but not make new files or open things

kaiden in Indiscernible from Magic, about +12Y ago:
Not IE8, but IE9 worked well after I logged in as the test user. Also, I have editing of the main page (Home) disabled by the test user so people don't muck up my examples. However, you can
