I hesitate to even post this, but I figured I should follow-up on a long forgotten project.
You may recall my silly songs written on the subject of X-Men characters. In cleaning some files and updating a website, I found two forgotten recordings, never updated or previously released to the idkfa public. Perhaps that was for the best.
But now here they are! A Christmas Miracle. Or disaster, depending on how you look at it. Keep in mind that these were recorded years ago.

SPDCA: I'm looking for a better way to get a hold of people.
I'm trying to review a couple collaboration and social aggregation softwares, and was curious if anyone had experience or had seen success with these, or something like them:
Thought: I live on the Internet through email, RSS feeds, Gchat, and to a lesser degree Twitter, and even less so Facebook. I normally proclaim "every tool should do one thing and do it well," but the amount of tethers I have and their incongruity with how other people interact with their Internet-capable devices make the act of getting a hold of "everyone" and in a way that everyone prefers a tedious task.
I want to be able to tell people, "Go here," or invite them to a place, and have that be a singular, finely-grained place where they can subscribe to things like "movie nights" or "Dungeons and Dragons." I want that place to allow users to get notifications where and when they want it. I want it to be able to integrate with silly things like Twitter, or simpler things like idkfa. And I want that place to be available for mobile devices.
I've been lurking on Cel.ly for some time. It has an interesting feature where a "cell" (a group chat) can have what they call "receptors" and "transmitters." A receptor can be another cell, or a feed like a public Twitter account or an RSS feed (something that could link the cell with updates from idkfa). This kind of integration appeals to me, as it means that depending on the cell, and the type of message, it is possible to get push notifications on one's phone for services that are not "push-y."
Those with young children: with my sister's recent exodus from Anchorage, my parents have a number of kid's lawn things that no longer have children.

They are free to those that could use them. Reply here if you have interest. First come, first serve, I suppose.
Interesting article. Orange is the New Black is the new Star Trek. http://www.slate.co..._of_kate.html  (www.slate.com);
So it looks like Katy and I will be in Anchorage by mid August at the latest. Hopefully in time to do some silver fishing
Work thing. We have teens at the library doing weekly projects for us, we call them VolunTEENs. (Librarians LOVE puns.) We have bought 3 Google Chrome books that we are putting through their paces to see if they are a feasible, cheaper alternate to the expensive laptops we currently buy for teen/public use. We have the volunTEENS testing them, trying to use them for normal stuff, trying to break them.
Two teen girls are "working" (playing) on a chrome book for this project. One teen girl is SUPER pretty. They yell across the room to a fourteen year-old boy "Hey Cody*, what is your favorite website?"
The boy's face - priceless. Pure unadulterated fear. He stammers while asking why they want to know. I left as they were explaning and before I heard his answer. But yeah, don't ask a teen boy that.
Probably a valid test of our computers, but not the testing we are doing.
*Names changed to protect the very sweet, hardworking teen boy. He would also be embarrassed to hear I called him sweet.
Anybody heard of these guys?: https://m.facebook...ups/755592381137433 (m.facebook.com)
Appear to be a sort of syndicated Arctic Entries. And Anchorage has a chapter, I guess.
Tempted to see what they're about on the 4th.
It took me a while figure out what was going on: https://www.youtub...watch?v=qoLS9We9hl4 (www.youtube.com)
Is anyone else profoundly disturbed by the fact that a major motion picture was successfully censored by cyberterrorists? Because I honestly cannot believe how this has turned out, especially given that the FBI has concluded it was North Korean actors that were responsible for the attack (www.npr.org).
News to me: Upper One Games (upperonegames.com) getting ready to release Never Alone (neveralonegame.com): http://vimeo.com/92000406 (vimeo.com)
Illustrated puzzle-adventure game depicting a young Iñupiaq protagonist and her arctic fox companion.
I've seen much worse shows featuring Alaska. (thescene.com)
Plus, I'm fairly certain I've seen a number of the locals they had on there.
