Asides was not very good, but I can't really judge it because I was in it. I don’t think asides went as horribly as you describe, although the accidental cutoff was unfortunate because it was as I was trying to desperately add to the objective (there WAS an objective - Rich: I hate my job. Me: I’ll help you with that). In fact, I thought pop-up storybook was worse in terms of improv, as I confused two characters and generally went with stream of consciousness insanity while playing the game wrong (although, it was more entertaining). Out of the games I was not in, I would definitely say that Three-Headed Santa was the bottom, closely followed by Blind Man's Bluff. Why, you ask? Both were gag games that didn't use the gag well, which made for so-so scenes, and, in the latter case, with danger in it that made the audience uncomfortable (according to John P). Also, John was in it and I HATE HIM. (but seriously, Blind Man’s Bluff was not a good game to close with. Second seriously, John was playing to the gag better than Ryan, but Ryan overpowered the scene. Third seriously, I don’t generally like gag games, with the exception being things like speaker with arms, where it’s easy to actually do scenework). As for our shows, there are things that need to change. I mentioned yesterday that I think we need to warm up before the show better. I think we need to practice playing games that we are going to play (that was an Eric suggestion – I also love how he essentially told everyone to STFU so we could play at rehearsal yesterday). We need less specific ask-for’s, as I feel the hosting has been pigeonholing us into scenes that aren’t fun (“You’re coworkers at Tastee-Freeze, go!”). Of course, you can do cool things with the ask-for’s we’ve been getting (and in the last example, there are still endless possibilities that I just didn’t do) – but putting less restrictions in the ask-for’s just opens it up even further. Also, there has been a lot of improv lately, and I’m kinda burnt out. But I do have dreams to improve. So, I think I’ll spend time trying to objective and make actual progress. Note that in this post, there was formatting, but idkfa doesn't support older versions of IE (read: I'm at work).
