(nods) Yeah.

Mac Haus in Spenard I've got beef with as well. One of my clients took their computer in after a hard drive failure. They set her up with a new hard drive, and reinstalled the original operating system.

They did not, however, suggest upgrading (for a relatively cheap cost of $30) to the most recent Mac OS X (which includes firewalling, automated backups, protected memory, things necessary for a singular business computer connected directly to the Internet). If anything, it would have been an up-sell for them, and their clients would have been happier. Instead, they gave my client a pamphlet on an incredibly expensive hard drive recovery service in the lower-48, and wished her luck.

I understand there are concerns about liability, or process, or just certain support issues that private businesses don't want to get into (hard drive recovery is a particularly nasty one). But again, there's a basic level of service when it comes to dealing with people's computers, business or otherwise, that one should aspire to to keep happy customers, or at least, establish their trust.
