Here is my previous year’s list. Seems 2013 was kind of a stagnant year for me!

1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?

Went on dates. Some were good, some were bad, but dating in general sucks.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Don’t think I made any. I have goals for turning 30, but no resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

The chosen Hanus was birthed. Danger was born. More friendspawn to come.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Thankfully, no.

5. What countries did you visit?

USA, RMI, Iceland, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland

6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?

Long term plans. I have made no progress after noting this last year.

7. What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

November 27, the long haul was finally over (Kwaj – Europe – Greely – CA – OR – Kwaj – home). Great trip, but that was a lot of consecutive travel. Also, don’t remember the date, but I will not soon forget the bear encounter.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

A survivor promotion?

9. What was your biggest failure?

No career development or life achievement.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

The knee hurts when it’s cold. And it’s always cold.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Various plane tickets.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Pope Francis

13. Whose behavior made you appalled?

The Republican party. Fuck those guys.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Even being homeless for a stint, probably rent. Then food. Then Amazon.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Iceland

With family and friends, mostly the former, at my mum’s house. Got gin-wasted.

Nope.

Just one, I think.

Breaking Bad (and Star Trek, always Star Trek). Honorable mentions: Shame, Game of Thrones

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

My hate has been pretty consistent. But definitely Miley Cyrus.

26. What was the best book you read?

Fiction: The Dog Stars

Nonfiction: If the Universe Is Teeming with Aliens ... WHERE IS EVERYBODY?: Fifty Solutions to the Fermi Paradox and the Problem of Extraterrestrial Life

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

There are so many. I got much more into electronica. But always the metals. I guess I’ll agree with Josh and say Zedd, I’ve listened to that album a shit ton. Honorable mention: Steven Wilson – I’ve listened to him a lot, but his newest solo album made me a believer.

So many compulsive purchases

Chugged a pitcher of beer at a bowling alley with friends, turned 29. Whoa, whoa… hold the applause.

Permanency

Mix & match. And funny t-shirts.

34. What kept you sane?

Gin.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Fancy is a little ambiguous. The Slumbernatch was in my most fancied roles. Alternately, I jerked off to Jessica Chastain more. I’ll let you be the judge.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

The Government Shutdown and the party of “No”

37. Who did you miss?

My continental buddies.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Tom and Jordan are certainly good additions to the nerd collective.

We all turn inward as time goes on.
